Our Frequently Asked Questions

What's taking so long?

Thank you for your patience. We know that there is great urgency for you to receive your order. We are actively working with our Production Team in Los Angeles and fabric providers in Asia to meet the delivery date.

Although the Pre-Order process is stated on the website, we can certainly do a better job of making it more clear.

We stand by the product and your order 100%. Should this be an inconvenience in any way, please let us know and we will honor a FULL REFUND.

Fit Guide - I haven't been hitting the gym. What size should I wear?

Of course. Please click here

Know that we got your back (and front). Your order is FULLY REFUNDABLE. Please send it back and we'll get you in the right size.

What fits and sizes do you offer?

We offer two fits in our shirts: Regular and Slim. As a general rule, go with your normal t-shirt size. If you're on the slimmer side, get the Slim. If you're taller than most guys, get the Regular fit where available.

Regular Fit: We created the Standard/ Regular fit after testing with a really amazing violinist. He wanted room around the shoulders for movement yet still preserve its slender and sleek appearance. Unlike starchy cotton shirts, you will find that this fabric conforms to your body.

Slim Fit: We narrowed the chest and added a slight taper through the waist for those who have a more slender build, or prefer a snugger fit.

International - I'm a sophomore at Hogwarts. Do you sell/ship/delivery overseas?

At Coregami, this is the introduction to the first movement. We are a small shop that is racing to meet the demands of our domestic audience in the United States. Moving into 2016, it would be our great blessing and fortune to be serving musicians internationally.

Product Care - I no longer live with my mother. How should I care for the garment?

The Fortissimo fabric is special and requires TLC (tender, loving, care). Here are our recommendations:

(1) Wash: Machine wash in Cold water
(2) Dry: tumble dry in Low or Air dry
(3) Do NOT use fabric softener. It will clog the pores of the fabric and reduce its special powers to breathe and wick. It's like kryptonite.

Other Tips:

(4) Wash with Like colors
(5) Wash with Like fabrics (no denim or hard fabrics)
(6) Hang drying your garment will prolong its life

What's in a name? How did you come up with Coregami?

During our design phase, we saw the tuxedo shirt as folding sheets of white material and thought ... origami! But that domain was already taken and it would have been a bajillion (USD) if we wanted to claim it. So we just made up something that sounded cool and close to that of a body part ("core").

Women's Collection - As women, we don't sweat. Nor do we have funny smells. But if we did, you'd make a collection for us, right??

We've been inundated by emails from women. The Design Team is actively exploring concepts at the intersection of fashion and function. We hope to have a women's collection ready in 2017.

Do you have any great ideas? Please let us know!

Stud Farm - Can the shirt accommodate my accessories like studs and cuff links?

Yes. The shirt has the ability to accommodate up to 4 studs and also accommodates cuff links.

Fabric - Can you tell me more about the fabric?

It's a world first - moisture wicking, stretch fabric built for the concert stage. For more information on The Fortissimo fabric, please click here

Pleats - You've been bragging about the pleats. Tell me more!

This has never been done - The Gershwin pleats are made from multi-way stretch, moisture-wicking fabric. It conforms to the body and feels like butter. As far as we know, this has never been done and has become one of the most pleasant surprises for our musicians.

Typical tuxedo shirts are made from cotton. After dry cleaning, the pleats become extra stiff and crunchy. This becomes problematic as musicians perform in a seated position and the stiff plate of fabric on the chest can be restrictive.

Headlights: Is the shirt too sheer? Do I need to wear an undershirt to cover up?

The Gershwin is intended to serve as the base layer. In other words, no undershirt is necessary. The pleating is very dense and provides wide coverage for those concerned about the transparency of the shirt.

What is your Return Policy?

You had me at Hello - I need to know more about this tuxedo shirt. Can you tell me more?

We had Two Rules when we started:

(1) Formal wear must serve to honor the occasion
(2) Formal wear must not restrict movement or hinder the wearer in any way

We wanted to begin with the largest paint point, which is the tuxedo jacket. But for a more attainable first project, we chose to solve a problem that is closest to the body and next to skin -- the tuxedo shirt.

Epiphany: We found inspiration from the top athletes in the world. From the NBA to NFL, uniforms have progressed from cotton to stretchable-breathable performance fabrics.

Rethinking: today, we are the first company in the world to take a functional approach to designing formal wear. The Gershwin tuxedo shirt is made from the most advanced athletic fabric on the market coupled with a crisp fabric to honor the occasion. With an ergonomic design to increase range of motion and other features, it is simply the most comfortable tuxedo shirt on the market.

Why Formal Wear? "Why build faster horses when you can build cars?"

If we let the past decide the future, we'd have the same crap. From the beginning, we had to think differently.

It began as a military jacket. Worn by soldiers that traveled great distances into many functions, it slowly gained acceptance into daily wear. Today, it has also become the standard uniform for musicians, wedding grooms, and fine dining restaurants.
Whether you are at a wedding or an expensive dinner party, formal wear exists for a very specific reason... to honor the occasion. However, it is a category that has not updated or innovated in a hundred years.

So what are some of the most common complaints about formal wear?

(a) Imports - Cheap and poor quality clothing that disintegrate after a few washes have inundated the US market. It has changed the economic landscape for formal wear providers and it is a race to the bottom. Unsurprisingly, quality has suffered.
(b) Few Options - One of the largest providers of formal wear in the nation is one which men like the least. Most men would rather not buy from a "warehouse".
(c) Manufacturing - There is an entire ecosystem that is stacked to build better beta maxes through economies of scale. Many shops simply want to churn out more of the same. Their focus is on recovering the high cost of manufacturing equipment.

What is your next major project?

We give thanks to all our Subscribers who have been sending stories of their suffering on the concert stage. There have been so many great concepts and product ideas. At Coregami, we hope to rethink the entire formal wear category.

Our next project will likely be the bow tie and cummerbund. So why do you ask? Well, let me tell you ...

Bow ties are made from silk or satin. These fabrics are highly luxurious. However, they have the stretchability of a sheet of paper and traps heat. The unintended effect of a bow tie is that of a hot noose around the neck.

In the future: Look for socks that don't sag. Moisture wicking chin rests with silicon gel packs. formal shoes that you can run in (ie: Nike Flyknit), jacket that breathes and moves, pants that flex when you sit.
